Ramkumari Jhakri’s Critique of Government’s Policies and Programs
Kathmandu: National Assembly member and CPN (UML) leader Ramkumari Jhakri has commented that the government's policies and programs are merely a continuation of old plans.
Speaking at the National Assembly meeting on Thursday, she stated that there was not much to comment on as the current policies and programs were presented by repeating old programs with a few points removed.
She said, "When our party and other traditional democratic parties were defeated in the election on the 21st, there was an expectation that a new force would emerge and a new era would begin. However, looking at the policies and programs, it only seems like a continuation of the old programs."
Jhakri accused the government of raising agendas of good governance and economic development while creating an atmosphere of fear for the private sector in practice. According to her, instead of facilitating an environment for the private sector and economic activities in the name of good governance, there is a tendency to obstruct them.
She added, "I want to suggest to the government that good governance does not mean detaining someone first and then listening; it should be listening first and then detaining."
She also alleged that instead of creating a working environment, the state has adopted a style of terrorizing, intimidating, and creating pressure on citizens and the private sector.
