Ramesh Lekhak: Neither I Nor PM Oli Ordered Firing on Protesters

Kathmandu. Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has, for the first time, publicly expressed his views to the media following the 'Gen-Z' protests on Bhadra 23 and 24 and the resulting loss of life.
Former Home Minister Lekhak expressed deep sorrow and offered condolences to the 'martyrs' who lost their lives in the protest. He clarified that neither he nor Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had given the order to open fire on the protestors.
According to him, the tragic incident occurred because some "corrupt people" infiltrated the 'Gen-Z' demonstration, making the movement rowdy and uncontrolled.
"Neither we nor the Prime Minister had given any order to fire. The unrestrained corrupt group that infiltrated the protest is responsible for the situation going out of control and the resulting casualties," he stated.
He said he was extremely saddened by the incident and took moral responsibility for it, which led to his resignation.
