Madhesh Province Speaker Ram Ashish Yadav Assumes Office
Mahendranagar (Dhanusha), Dec 22: The newly appointed Speaker of the Madhesh Province Assembly, Ram Ashish Yadav, took charge of his office today. While assuming office at the Province Assembly building in Janakpurdham, he stated that he is no longer a representative of any specific party but will act as an impartial guardian for the entire assembly.
Speaker Yadav emphasized that he would promote dialogue and cooperation among political parties. "Differences are natural, but cooperation is essential," he said. He added that he would move forward by coordinating with all parties for the benefit of the province.
He mentioned that key issues of Madhesh—such as inclusion, good governance, access to education and health, job creation, and challenges in border areas—will be prioritized in the parliamentary agenda.
Highlighting the need for the assembly to monitor the government effectively, he said the parliament must be strong regarding budget implementation, transparency in public spending, and improving the quality of service delivery.
Speaker Yadav expressed his commitment to running the assembly in an effective, accountable, and dignified manner according to democratic values. "The Speaker's chair is above political bias. My responsibility will be to ensure full compliance with the Constitution, laws, and parliamentary rules to make the assembly accountable to the people," he said.
He also urged lawmakers to play a constructive role, stating that he is determined to institutionalize discipline, punctuality, and a culture of healthy debate. He added that he would make the role of the Speaker more effective by activating committees and encouraging deep discussion and consensus on bills.
