Rakshya Bam Slams Karki Commission Delay
Rakshya Bam, one of the leaders of the Gen-Z movement, has expressed serious objection to the delay in making public the report of the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission, which was formed to investigate the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24. She mentioned that the repeated extensions of the deadline for the report's submission by the civilian government have increased confusion.
"The way the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission is prolonging the time by extending the report submission date has created confusion as well as fear in us," she stated via social media. "Is this government also going to release the report in a perfunctory manner, just like previous governments?"
The government first extended the commission's term for one month on Poush 3, 2082. The term was extended for a second time on Magh 8 for 20 days. For the third time, the deadline has been extended again by 25 days. The election is scheduled for Falgun 21. The time extended by the current government is the period immediately following the election.
Power will be handed over to the government formed after the election. "Is this government also going to release the report in a perfunctory manner like previous governments, or will the commission's report be stashed in a corner to be eaten by termites under the pretext of the election? Suspicion is widespread," she said.
She demanded that the current civilian government itself must begin implementation to bring the perpetrators of Bhadra 23 and 24 to justice and expressed that a clear commitment must be made in this regard. "Although we are committed to bringing the electoral process and the constitution back on track, the issue of justice cannot be overshadowed," she said.
