Rabi Lamichhane Moved from Nakkhu Prison for Questioning by High-Level Commission
Kathmandu. Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been moved from Nakkhu Prison for questioning by a high-level inquiry commission.
Lamichhane is currently being transported from the prison to the commission's office at Singha Durbar, following a request by the High-Level Inquiry Commission for him to be present for questioning, according to a source at Nakkhu Prison.
The inquiry is related to a controversial incident that occurred on 24 Bhadra (September 9, 2025), when Lamichhane, currently in judicial custody over a cooperative fraud case, was temporarily released with other inmates citing security concerns.
The legitimacy of the letter reportedly issued by the prison administration to release Lamichhane at that time was questioned, after which he returned to the prison.
The High-Level Inquiry Commission, formed to investigate the overall incidents surrounding the prison protests and Lamichhane's temporary release, has summoned him to record his statement at their office.
