Lamichhane Claims He Was Removed from Parliament but Remains in the People’s Hearts
Kathmandu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has claimed that although he was removed from the Federal Parliament, he cannot be removed from the hearts of the people. Speaking in Jhapa-2, Chairman Lamichhane remarked that the orders of "Ba" (a colloquial reference to senior political leaders) were treated as more significant than the mandate of the people, leading to his ousting from Parliament.
"The orders of 'Ba' became greater than the people's mandate in Parliament," he said. "By posting a notice within two hours, they manhandled me and threw me out of the Federal Parliament. However, they could not remove me from the hearts of the people."
He questioned the integrity of those now asking for votes, accusing them of prioritizing party orders over the voices of the citizens. "I do not know with what face those people are asking for votes today—those who considered the party's command supreme and silenced the voice of the Nepalese people in the House," he said.
He further stated that 21 RSP lawmakers were metaphorically strangled and pushed out for demanding an investigation into visit visas. "The Parliamentary Regulations clearly state that if a person is not in custody and the case has not been finalized—provided they are not detained—their position as an MP cannot be suspended.
The Parliamentary Regulations are a document 100% endorsed by Parliament itself. It is a law made for Parliament, and that endorsed document was right there," he explained. Chairman Lamichhane also asserted his firm support for Indira Rana Magar, stating, "I have stood in favor of Indira Rana Magar. I have stood there with pride."
