Warm Welcome for Putin: 21-Gun Salute and Guard of Honour in Delhi

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is currently on a visit to India, is participating in various programs on Friday. On Friday morning, he was welcomed with a 21-gun salute and presented with a Guard of Honour at the Indian Presidential Palace premises.

Putin arrived in India on Thursday evening for a two-day visit. A delegation of seven ministers is accompanying him. Two important meetings between Modi and Putin are scheduled. It is likely that more than 25 agreements will be signed between India and Russia during the bilateral meetings.

Modi himself went to the airport to welcome Putin upon his arrival. Both leaders embraced each other. Modi and Putin traveled together in the same car from the airport to the Prime Minister's residence.

Indian media reports indicate that during the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, organized at Modi's invitation, the two leaders will discuss strengthening defence cooperation, protecting bilateral trade from external pressure, and partnering on small modular reactors.

After landing in Delhi for the India visit on Thursday, Modi gifted Putin a copy of the Bhagavad Gita written in Russian. (AANI)
