Purna Basnet Suggests Gen Z Should Lead the Country

Purna Basnet, Head of the Publicity Department of the People's Socialist Party (JSPN) Nepal, has suggested that the Gen Z generation should have the courage to lead the country. He advised the Gen Z leaders, who have led a revolutionary movement, to step into leadership rather than avoiding it.

Basnet said, “Gen Z friends, your attacks on political parties are not only ruthless but also risky. Stay alert. Your revolution could turn into a counter-revolution, so be cautious. Take concrete steps necessary for change and reform in structures and organs such as the Constitution, electoral system, government structure, Parliament, government, judiciary, and constitutional bodies.”

He advised Gen Z to adopt broader understanding and consensus rather than politics of prohibition. He urged them not to repeat the mistakes that the Congress-Communist syndicate made, which he says has brought the country to its current state of crisis.

He said, “Gen Z friends, an enormous responsibility now rests on your shoulders. But the sad part is that there is already a leadership struggle among yourselves. If choosing a leader among yourselves is this difficult, I am concerned about how you will lead the entire country.”

According to him, anyone involved in destruction during the movement should face action. He also expressed sorrow over the human and material damage caused.
