Protests in Surkhet Against the Arrest of KP Sharma Oli

Surkhet: In protest against the government's arrest of former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli, the party has submitted a letter of protest to the government through the Chief District Officer.

On Sunday, Kulmani Devkota, Chairman of CPN (UML) Surkhet, visited the District Administration Office and handed over the protest letter to Chief District Officer Jagadisheshwar Upadhyay.

The CPN (UML) submitted the protest letter to the Prime Minister through the CDO, demanding the immediate dismissal of the illegal arrests and the respectful release of Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. 

The letter also demands the formation of a high-level commission chaired by a sitting judge to conduct an impartial investigation into all damages incurred during the Zenji movement on bhadra 23 and 24.

The UML has further demanded guarantees for the rule of law, human rights, the protection of democracy, and full compliance with civil rights. Prior to submitting the protest letter, UML leaders and activists held a demonstration in Birendranagar, where they chanted slogans against the Prime Minister. The party stated that protest letters were submitted to the Chief District Officers of all districts in Karnali today.
