Protest in Surkhet Against UML Leader Mahesh Basnet
Surkhet. Young people in Surkhet have staged protests and shouted slogans against CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet.
Security arrangements have been tightened in Surkhet after 'Gen Z' youth attempted to obstruct the program and shouted slogans against Basnet, who arrived in Surkhet to launch the National Youth Federation Nepal's Youth Awareness Campaign.
The Gen Z youth attempted the obstruction after receiving news that Basnet and other UML leaders were coming to Surkhet.
While the Youth Federation's program is underway in the hall of the Surkhet District Coordination Committee, the sloganeering by the Gen Z youth outside continues.
Young people carrying placards with messages written against UML leader Mahesh Basnet are protesting outside the program venue. The local administration has stated that security deployment has been increased, anticipating a potential confrontation.
Basnet mentioned that the campaign initiated by the Youth Federation will help in raising awareness, participation, and leadership development among the youth of Karnali.
