Election Commission Sets Time for Withdrawal of Party Registration for Proportional Representation
Kathmandu, 25 Mangsir: The Election Commission has set today as the time for parties that have applied to register for the Proportional Representation electoral system to withdraw their names, if they wish to do so.
The Commission, through a public notice, has informed that parties can withdraw their names today from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A total of 100 political parties have submitted applications to the Commission for this system.
The Commission's spokesperson, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, informed that the received applications will be studied and approved by 26th Mangsir.
The Commission had provided a deadline from 21st to 23rd Mangsir for the registration of parties for the purpose of the Proportional Representation election for the upcoming House of Representatives election, which is scheduled to be held on 21st Falgun.
Out of the total 275 members of the House of Representatives, 165 members will be elected through the First-Past-The-Post (Direct) electoral system, and 110 members will be elected through the Proportional Representation electoral system.
