Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Extends Greetings on Nag Panchami, Emphasizes Nature Conservation
Kathmandu, July 29 — Nepal’s current Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has extended his greetings on the occasion of Nag Panchami, highlighting the festival’s significance in promoting harmony with nature and respect for living beings.
In a post on social media platform Facebook, Prime Minister Oli wrote, “Nag Panchami is a symbol of water, soil, and seasonal balance. Today, by worshipping the serpent (Nag), we remember the coexistence between humans and other creatures.”
He further added, “Our ancient civilization had already embraced this festival as an early message to protect nature. The main reason we face challenges like climate change today is our failure to conserve the environment.”
Traditionally, on this day, people paste pictures of Nag above the main entrance of their homes and offer milk, rice grains, sacred grass (Dubo), and flowers. Prime Minister Oli said, “Our ancestors taught us to revere all living beings in nature, which is believed to help dispel negative energy.”
Prime Minister Oli concluded by extending his best wishes for a prosperous and auspicious Nag Panchami to everyone.
