President's Message on Basanta Panchami and Saraswati Puja
Kathmandu. President Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed his best wishes on the occasion of Basanta Panchami and Saraswati Puja.
Issuing a message of greetings today, President Paudel stated, “On the occasion of Basanta Panchami and Saraswati Puja, which is celebrated by worshipping the goddess of knowledge, Mother Saraswati, on the day of Magh Shukla Panchami, I express my heartiest best wishes to all Nepali sisters, brothers, and children living at home and abroad.”
Mentioning the tradition of worshipping Mother Saraswati as the goddess of education, knowledge, and music, he noted the prevalence of starting a child's first lessons at home or enrolling them in school on this auspicious day.
“Basanta Panchami is also considered a primary day for music lovers to practice their art. It is a tradition to choose this day for weddings, bratabandha, and other auspicious ceremonies for those wishing to start new work or seeking a favorable time,” he said.
He further stated that the listening of the Basanta Shrawan and the performance of Saraswati Puja today are not mere formalities, but opportunities to keep our lives energized and inspired toward new discoveries.
The message of greetings added, “The natural significance of Basanta Panchami is equally important. As the spring season begins and the sun moves northward, the days become longer and nights shorter, transitioning from cold to warmth. I believe this festival reflects the closeness between Nepali life and nature, and provides inspiration for our relationship with education and the fulfillment of knowledge.”
