President Paudel Praises Sherpa Community’s Role in Enhancing Nepal’s Prestige

Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has stated that the Sherpa community plays a significant role in enhancing the prestige of Nepal and its people.

President Paudel expressed this view during a program organized by the Nepal Sherpa Association at Shital Niwas on Tuesday to mark the occasion of the 2153rd Gyalpo Lhosar (New Year).

"The Sherpa community, which has earned fame in Nepal's tourism and mountaineering sectors, is known as an honest, hardworking, and nature-loving group. It is a matter of joy that this community, which has spread from the Himalayan regions of Nepal over centuries, is now present across the world and is playing a remarkable role in increasing the reputation of not just their own community, but of Nepal and all Nepalis," he said.

He mentioned that among the various ethnic groups in Nepal—a country with a unique geographical culture spanning the mountains, hills, and plains—the Sherpa community is an indigenous group with its own distinct traditions, culture, civilization, and identity.

He added that such festivals have been providing important contributions to the enhancement of mutual harmony, unity, friendship, and brotherhood. He further noted that peace, stability, and national unity would be further strengthened in the country through prosperity achieved via good governance.
