Prakash Singh Karki Intensifies Door-to-Door Campaign in Solukhumbu
Prakash Singh Karki, an influential leader of the Nepali Congress in Solukhumbu, has intensified his door-to-door campaign.
Karki, who won the General Convention Representative position with a popular vote during the party's internal elections, is a well-liked local leader who succeeded in becoming the Congress candidate by outpacing his internal competitors.
Following the announcement by former minister and Congress Central Committee member Bal Bahadur KC—who had contested every election since 2048 B.S — that he would not run this time, second-tier leaders entered the electoral race.
Anggelu Sherpa, Binod Basnet, and Karki were the main contenders for the ticket. After Party President Gagan Thapa ultimately awarded the ticket to Karki, he is now busy visiting villages to listen to the problems and grievances of the voters.
In the previous election, CPN-UML leader Maanbir Rai was elected from Solukhumbu and went on to serve as the Defense Minister.
