Prachanda Urges Unity Amid Confusion Over Party Registration List
Kathmandu, Kartik 28: The Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ has urged everyone not to be confused by the list submitted to the Election Commission regarding the party's registration, but to complete the remaining tasks of the unification campaign with determination.
Coordinator Dahal's Secretariat issued a press statement today, stating that some confusion has arisen regarding the details submitted to the Election Commission for the purpose of party registration, and requested clarification on the matter.
The Secretariat stated, "Due to the managerial necessity of the election and time constraints, a list of standing committee members who were in place before the unification was submitted to the Commission.
Due to the mandatory provision of including one-third women as per the law, the names of 13 available women central members who immediately attended the central office and signed were also added to that list to meet the required women's percentage. This is not a separate structure; the structure as per the statute is yet to be formed."
Coordinator Dahal stated that all posts and committees, except for the Party Coordinator and Co-coordinator, will be formed on the basis of mutual agreement. The Secretariat informed that groundwork is underway for this and that all structures, including the central committee of the unified party, will be finalized through this same process.
The process of forming the Nepali Communist Party has moved forward with the merger of more than a dozen left-leaning groups, including the CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN (Unified Socialist).
In this context, the Election Commission has set a deadline of Kartik 30 for the registration of parties and obtaining the certificate for the general election announced by the government for Falgun 21.
