Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ Pays Tribute to Martyrs on Martyrs' Day

Kathmandu. On the occasion of Martyrs' Day on Magh 16, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the coordinator of the Nepal Communist Party, paid heartfelt tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation, nationality, democracy, social justice, and rights.

In his message, Prachanda noted that the history of change in Nepal is written with the blood of martyrs. He remembered the sacrifices ranging from Lakhan Thapa and Bankabir against the feudal Rana regime to Shukraraj Shastri, Dharmabhakt Mathema, Dashrath Chand, and Gangalal Shrestha.

He also recalled Bhimdatta Panta’s struggle for farmers, and the sacrifices made during the Panchayat era, the People’s War, the People’s Movement, the Madhes and Tharu community movements, and the recent Gen-Z movement.

He stated that the common goal of these martyrs was to end feudalism, oppression, and discrimination while establishing democracy, equality, justice, and people's governance.

According to Prachanda, Nepal has reached the stage of a republic, federalism, inclusiveness, and secularism today, all of which are the results of the martyrs' invaluable sacrifices.

Prachanda remarked that the dreams of the martyrs have not yet been fully realized, and the struggle for social justice, economic equality, the end of corruption, good governance, and national sovereignty continues. He emphasized that the significance of Martyrs' Day remains only if one remains dedicated to fulfilling the incomplete dreams of the martyrs.

Prachanda urged everyone to take Martyrs' Day as a day for self-reflection, to remain steadfast without wavering, and to move forward on the path of struggle by standing firmly in favor of the people.

Additionally, he called upon everyone to commit to moving toward the construction of a prosperous socialist Nepal by building upon the achievements made so far.
