Prachanda Stresses Communist Unity Amid National Challenges

Kathmandu. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), stated that the nation is in a difficult situation and there is no alternative to unity to address the communist movement and the people's aspirations.

Speaking at a program to merge central members who rebelled from the Biplav-led party into the NCP, Coordinator Dahal said that unity among communist forces is a historical necessity to save the nation and move the movement in the right direction. He clarified that the formation of the NCP was not done out of impulse, but by internalizing the role the leadership must play during the country's uncomfortable and extraordinary circumstances.

He said, "The nation is in trouble. To save the nation, to save the movement, and to address the people's desires, there is no alternative to being united. This is today’s historical necessity. The formation of the NCP party was not done out of impulse."

He commented that the Biplav leadership missed the opportunity to gain strength by uniting as many possible communist factions as possible.

"Internalizing the role leadership should play in today's uncomfortable and extraordinary situation of the nation, the Biplav leadership has lost the opportunity to gain strength by uniting all possible components of the communist movement. The Biplav leadership was receiving great respect in the unity," he said.

Coordinator Dahal mentioned that they had given special importance to Biplav but alleged that he became more distracted and deviated after the Gen Z movement. Furthermore, as a comrade who once worked together, Dahal urged him to conduct a self-review, stating that not everything is lost yet.

He said, "We used to give Biplav ji a bit more importance. But after the Gen Z movement, the Biplav leadership became quite distracted. He deviated a lot and got stuck in a big whirlpool. We have no hatred or anger toward Biplav. But as a comrade who sat together, I want to say this is the time for you to do a self-review. Not everything is lost yet; if you come into unity after a self-review, we are ready.

The country is in an uncomfortable situation. If we do not go on a nationwide campaign in a united manner, the country could head toward another accident."
