Election Commission Calls for Applications for Proportional Representation
Kathmandu, 19 Mangsir: The Election Commission has called upon political parties wishing to participate in the upcoming House of Representatives election under the Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system to submit applications.
The Commission published a notice today stating that the program for the PR system will begin on Saturday. Therefore, according to the approved election schedule, political parties wishing to participate in this system are requested to submit their applications from 10:00 AM on 21 Mangsir to 4:00 PM on 23 Mangsir.
The Commission established the Office of the Election Officer at its Kantipath office for the PR system last Sunday. Commission Secretary Mahadev Pantha has been appointed as the Election Officer for this system.
The Commission will publish the list of political parties that submit applications from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on 24 Mangsir.
The deadline for these applicant political parties to submit the closed list of candidates is fixed from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on 13 and 14 Poush, informed Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai. There are now 90 days remaining until the election scheduled for 21 Falgun.
According to the election schedule for the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) system (Direct Election), candidates' nomination papers will be registered on 6 Magh.
The program is set for the publication of the candidates' list on the same day. The time for filing objections against the candidacies has been set for 7 Magh.
The names of the candidates will be published on 8 Magh. Similarly, candidates will be able to withdraw their names on 9 Magh, and the final list of candidates will be published on the same day, followed by the allocation of election symbols to the candidates.
The Commission is also preparing for the National Assembly election scheduled for 11 Magh.
