Political Activity Intensifies in Manahari As Election Approach

Hetauda. As preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives election on March 5 (Falgun 21) gather pace, political activities have intensified in Manahari Rural Municipality of Makwanpur. During an expanded meeting of the CPN (UML) Manahari Rural Municipality Committee, influential leaders including the Vice-Chair of CPN (Unified Socialist) joined the UML.

CPN (UML) candidate for the House of Representatives, Mahesh Kumar Bartaula, welcomed CPN (Unified Socialist) Manahari Vice-Chair Ram Bahadur Darji, Ane-Ma-Sangh (Socialist) Chair Buddhimaya Tamang, and other leaders into the party.

Speaking at the induction program, Vice-Chair Darji mentioned that returning to the UML felt like coming back to his own home and committed to focusing all his strength on securing a UML victory.

Rajaram Syangtan, a former Constituent Assembly member who had led Birodh Khatiwada's election campaign against Bartaula in the previous election, has taken the field as Bartaula’s main election commander this time.

Addressing the meeting, Syangtan stated that he took on the responsibility of co-coordinator of the election mobilization committee to wholeheartedly support Bartaula, who had previously helped him become a Constituent Assembly member.

During the program, former Chair of Manahari Rural Municipality, Ekraj Upreti, expressed the view that there is no alternative to Mahesh Bartaula for solving the long-term problems related to the buffer zone in Manahari.

Candidate Bartaula reviewed his 32-month tenure, noting that although the people elected him for five years, circumstances only allowed him to work for 32 months. Committing to completing unfinished tasks during the remaining term, he stated that policy-level work has already begun to address the problems of landless and unorganized settlers and to resolve the legal complexities of the buffer zone.

The meeting also decided to fully mobilize the UML organization in Manahari for the upcoming election on March 5.

The program was attended by UML central member Bharati Pathak, district committee members Birendra DC, Laxman Upreti, Krishna Lamichhane, Shivakumar Rijal, Gita Praja, Bartaula’s election focal person Ashish Aslami, student leader Prabhash Ghimire, and others.
