PM Participates in Maha Shivaratri and Army Day Celebrations
Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki participated in a special program organized by the Nepal Army today on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri and Army Day 2082. President Ram Chandra Paudel attended the ceremony held at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, as the chief guest.
During the event, the Maha Shivaratri firing and an impressive march past were presented. Additionally, exhibitions of Nepal Army weaponry and modern equipment, various military skills, and musical processions were also showcased.
The program included special performances by military bands from friendly nations India, Great Britain, and the United States, which made the ceremony even more attractive. The Nepal Army has been celebrating its establishment day every year on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri. Historical records show that the nation-builder Prithvi Narayan Shah formed the Nepal Army in 1819 B.S during the campaign for the unification of Nepal.
At that time, the Shreenath, Kalibaks, Bardawani, Sabuj, and Gorakh companies were established. The Nepal Army is considered one of the major and oldest institutions of the state of Nepal.
