Upcoming Election a "Grand Campaign" for Integrity, Says PM Karki

House of Representatives must be a place for representatives with a clean image: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has stated that the upcoming election should be taken as a grand campaign for establishing integrity in the country.

Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Wednesday on the occasion of the establishment day of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Prime Minister Karki said that the upcoming election should be viewed as a grand campaign to establish integrity in order to make the House of Representatives a place for representatives with clean images and a clear commitment against corruption.

She also expressed confidence that the government formed after the election with a new mandate will take further steps in governance and corruption control according to the spirit of Gen Z.

Prime Minister Karki maintained that although Nepal has sufficient structures and legal and policy arrangements for corruption control, the primary responsibility for the failure to control corruption as expected lies with the government and the executive body itself.

She stated that desired reforms cannot be achieved until the tendency of looking toward structures other than the executive body for corruption control is ended.

Similarly, Prime Minister Karki mentioned that the current government, formed according to the spirit of the Gen Z movement, is prioritizing tasks such as providing a citizen-friendly administration, controlling corruption, and overall administrative reform.

She also claimed that the preparation of a governance roadmap, which will serve as guidance for the government formed after the upcoming election, has reached its final stage.
