Finance Ministry Approves 977 New Permanent Health Sector Positions
Kathmandu: The process of adding permanent positions in the health sector, which had been stalled for the past three decades, has finally taken a concrete shape. On Wednesday, the Ministry of Finance approved a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Health to add 977 new permanent positions for technical and specialist staff.
According to the secretariat of Health Minister Nisha Maheta, this step was taken to address the shortage of manpower in service delivery caused by an outdated organizational structure, even as the country's population has reached 30 million.
With the Finance Ministry's approval, preparations are now underway to take the proposal to the Council of Ministers, where the positions will be implemented following a final decision. With the addressing of this demand, which has been raised by employee organizations and experts for a long time, health services are expected to become more effective in accordance with the federal structure.
