Pemba Chiri Sherpa: From Street Struggle to the Halls of Parliament
Pemba Chiri Sherpa, a young leader representing the Ujyaalo Nepal Party, has officially registered his candidacy for the direct elections to ensure the overall development of Solukhumbu district and provide long-term solutions to local issues.
He decided to enter the electoral race after observing that despite being rich in natural resources, the local people continue to suffer due to a lack of proper leadership.
For the past 8 to 10 years, Sherpa has been consistently fighting for various local issues in Solukhumbu through street protests and by raising his voice on public concerns at government offices and ministries.
While he has previously exerted pressure through street demonstrations and existing parliamentary channels, his main objective now is to reach the policy-making level to address the district's problems permanently.
Stating that the general public has had to endure hardships despite the potential for prosperity—largely due to the failures of those in leadership—he has expressed his commitment to serving as a direct representative of the people.
Sherpa is currently active in his election campaign, stating that his candidacy is aimed at transforming the face of Solukhumbu and fulfilling the need for youth leadership.
