Minister Ingnam Inspects Progress of Under-Construction Parliament Building
Kathmandu: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, and Urban Development, Kumar Ingnam, has inspected the under-construction parliament building. On Friday, a team including Minister Ingnam and National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal observed the parliament building being constructed at Singha Durbar.
Speaking with media persons after the inspection, Minister Ingnam stated that he had given instructions to hand over the building by Chaitra 1 at any cost, but noted that based on the current pace of work, it does not seem likely that the work will be completed easily.
He maintained that there is no alternative but to complete the construction within the specified time. He said, "Looking at the pace of this work, it doesn't feel like construction will be finished soon. I had instructed that it must be handed over by March 1st no matter what. But the pace of work does not reflect that. There is still no possibility that the work will end in a smooth manner."
Similarly, Chairperson Dahal mentioned that the construction work has not moved at the required speed. He informed that the construction side has responded saying they will hand over the building by the time the House session begins. He said, "The speed we felt this should be built with has not been seen yet.
The matter of the House session is already decided. It might be a few days here or there, but it will definitely run after the election. We gave many instructions to complete this by the time the House runs.
After the latest instructions, there has been some progress. They have said they will complete it by the time the session starts."
