Padam Giri Outlines Federal Priorities During Campaign in Parbat

Parbat: Padam Giri, the CPN-UML candidate for Parbat Constituency No. 1, stated that the role of the Federal Parliament involves working on large-scale projects. He also noted a disconnect where public demands often go in one direction while actual work goes in another.

While conducting his door-to-door election campaign, he explained that the Federal Parliament's role is to handle "mega projects," whereas small-scale village schemes are the responsibility of the local government. He assured voters that those who elect him will never have cause for regret.

"I have not done anything wrong in the past eight years. In that sense, winning the election should not have been difficult for me, but since there are some clouds over the 'Sun' (election symbol) this time, I am having to work much harder," he said.

In Parbat, which consists of a single House of Representatives constituency, candidates from the Nepali Congress and UML are facing each other for the third time in the upcoming election scheduled for March 5.

The Nepali Congress has fielded Arjun Prasad Joshi, who had been undefeated since 2056 until the 2074 elections. Representing the then Left Alliance, UML's Giri is currently in the race to secure victory once again.

This marks the third face-off between Joshi and Giri in Parbat. If Giri wins, it will be a hat-trick of victories for him; if Joshi wins, he will avoid a hat-trick of defeats.
