Nepal to Boost Organic Fertilizer Use and Ensure Chemical Fertilizer Supply

Agriculture, Forestry, and Environment Minister Gita Chaudhary has expressed a commitment to increase the use of organic and bio-fertilizers while reducing dependency on chemical fertilizers. 

Replying in the parliament on Wednesday, she informed that a budget of 350 million rupees at the federal level and 112.4 million rupees at the provincial level has been proposed for subsidies on organic fertilizers.

For the upcoming fiscal year, 32.46 billion rupees has been allocated to ensure the smooth supply of chemical fertilizers, with the Ministry of Finance guaranteeing additional funds if the budget falls short. 

Furthermore, the distribution system has been improved with the participation of all three tiers of government to provide fertilizers to farmers in a timely and transparent manner.
