A Call to Protect National Dignity: KP Oli’s Democracy Day Address

Kathmandu. On the occasion of Democracy Day, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli remembered the contributions of the martyrs and called upon everyone to be vigilant in protecting democratic values and national dignity.

Issuing a message of greetings through social media on Thursday, Nepal Communist Party (UML) Chairman Oli mentioned that Democracy Day is a historic day when the autocratic Rana regime ended through the courage, sacrifice, and martyrdom of the people, marking the dawn of freedom and rights.

Paying tribute to the immortal martyrs Shukraraj Shastri, Dashrath Chand, Dharmabhakt Mathema, and Gangalal Shrestha, who sacrificed their lives for the establishment of democracy, he stated that their contributions will always be remembered.

In the message, Chairman Oli noted that Democracy Day serves as a reminder of three important responsibilities. According to him, the needs of today are to protect national independence and preserve the nation's dignity; to safeguard the constitution while keeping democratic rights and values alive; and to focus on citizen security while rebuilding heritage, culture, industries, and infrastructure affected by destruction.

"Today's day reminds us of three important responsibilities – first, protecting national independence and preserving the dignity of the nation. Second, protecting the constitution and keeping the democratic rights and values of the people alive.

Third, ensuring the security of citizens while rebuilding the nation's heritage, our rich human culture, industries, and infrastructure that were devastated by general destruction," the message reads.

Expressing his best wishes for Democracy Day to all Nepalis, he mentioned that everyone should move forward with awareness by taking inspiration from this historic day.
