UML Party Removes Chairman KP Sharma Oli's Photo from Promotional Materials
Kathmandu. The CPN-UML has begun removing photographs of Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli from its recent public programs and official promotional materials. Previously criticized for a decision to give Oli’s image exclusive prominence, the UML included only the portraits of Pushpa Lal Shrestha, Madan Bhandari, and Manmohan Adhikari in materials released for the 77th anniversary of the Communist Party's founding.
This shift is seen as significant, especially since candidates close to Oli have also stopped using his photos since the March 5 elections. Amid intensifying debates within the party regarding leadership restructuring, the removal of the Chairman’s image from promotional materials is being analyzed by some as a signal of a changing internal power balance and a search for leadership alternatives within the UML.
