Habeas Corpus Petition Hearing for KP Sharma Oli and Ramesh Lekhak Today

Kathmandu. The hearing on the habeas corpus petitions of CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is scheduled for today. The petitions, filed on Sunday, will be heard today.

Radhika Shakya, the wife of Oli, and Yashoda Lekhak, on behalf of Lekhak, filed the habeas corpus petitions at the Supreme Court on Sunday, demanding their release from illegal detention.

Similarly, the hearing on the petition claiming that former minister Lekhak has been kept in illegal detention will also take place today. Police arrested Oli and leader Lekhak on Saturday morning.

The District Court Kathmandu has granted permission to keep Oli and Lekhak in custody for five days for investigation. Due to health issues, Oli is currently admitted and undergoing treatment at Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj. Lekhak is being held at the Police Number 2 Battalion in Maharajgunj.
