Supreme Court to Continue Hearing on Oli and Lekhak's Habeas Corpus Today
Kathmandu: The hearing on the habeas corpus petitions filed for CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is scheduled to continue today. Government attorneys from the Office of the Attorney General will present their arguments today during the hearing.
On Sunday, the hearing took place before a bench of Supreme Court Justices Binod Sharma and Sunil Kumar Pokhrel. The arguments from the legal practitioners representing Oli and Lekhak have already concluded.
Oli and Lekhak were arrested by the police on Chaitra 14. They were detained for investigation regarding incidents related to the Gen Z movement that occurred on bhadra 23 and 24. Radhika Shakya, wife of Chairman Oli, and Yashoda Lekhak, wife of leader Lekhak, filed the habeas corpus petitions on Chaitra 15, demanding their release on the grounds that the government has kept them in illegal detention.
