Court Appearance Scheduled for KP Sharma Oli and Ramesh Lekhak
Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak are being presented in court today. Since the courts were closed on Saturday, Oli and Lekhak are being produced in court today.
Police stated that both leaders are being presented today as they could not be brought before the court due to the public holiday on Saturday.
Police arrested Oli and Lekhak from their respective residences on Saturday. Following the arrest, Oli was admitted to the hospital, while Lekhak has been kept at the No. 2 Battalion in Maharajgunj.
The police arrested Oli and Lekhak from Bhaktapur on Saturday morning during the implementation of a report submitted by a committee led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, which was formed to investigate the facts regarding the Gen Z movement incidents on Bhadra 23 and 24.
The Karki commission had recommended investigation and prosecution against then Prime Minister Oli, then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and then Inspector General of Nepal Police Chandra Kuber Khapung, stating that people had died during the Gen Z movement due to negligence and carelessness.
