Oli Demands Parsai's Release, Raising the Issue of Human Rights
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has demanded the immediate release of medical entrepreneur Durga Parsai. He demanded the immediate release, questioning, "Can one not even speak?"
He expressed objection, stating that the government arrested Parsai overnight based on a video the latter had made public during the day. Oli claims that Parsai merely made public the facts through the video.
"I want to tell the government, release Durga Parsai immediately. Can one not even speak? The National Human Rights Commission has even said that no one can be detained just for speaking. The Human Rights Commission has already stated this," Oli said.
"Durga Parsai released a video. It came out during the day and he was arrested in the evening. Does this government have an answer to that video or not? Does it have an answer for Durga Parsai?
I want to ask the Prime Minister and the Home Minister. It must not be AI [Artificial Intelligence]," Oli said. "Someone raised a question, and then. He only showed the video of what happened, didn't he?"
