KP Sharma Oli Critiques Balen Shah in Jhapa

Jhapa: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has stated that Balen (Balendra Shah) came to Jhapa after reaching a point where the people of Kathmandu no longer trust him. Speaking at a voter interaction program organized in Jhapa on Monday, Oli remarked that because no one in his own district trusts him, a person who has already won in Kathmandu does not have the courage to run from there again.

He said, "We must understand why someone does not contest an election from their own district. There is no situation where anyone in their own district trusts them. You cannot lie there. Why does a person who has already won in Kathmandu not have the courage to fight from there again? Why did he have to come here? My friends have understood this matter."

Similarly, he mentioned that while discussions should focus on social harmony based on social justice and equality, and national unity based on social harmony, he has recently been hearing talk about Madhesi and Pahadi distinctions.

He stated, "Another thing, I am hearing Madhesi-Pahadi talk here and there. Such things should not be said. We must talk about social justice and equality. On that basis, we must talk about social harmony, and based on social harmony, we must talk about national unity. We should all unite to build our respective places, villages, and districts."

He also expressed that the country is built not by caste, but by ideas, vision, policies, plans, determination, and effort. He said, "A country is not built based on what caste a candidate belongs to. To build a country, it takes ideas, vision, policies, plans, determination, and effort, not caste. Therefore, one should not walk around talking about matters of caste."
