Official Mandate for Government Media Usage

Kathmandu. The Government of Nepal, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, has issued a directive to publish and broadcast notices only through government media outlets to maintain austerity in public spending and ensure uniform, transparent information flow.

Following a secretary-level decision on April 1, all public entities under federal, provincial, and local levels have been requested to implement this arrangement.

It is mentioned that all notices, including those related to public procurement, must now be limited to state-owned media such as Gorkhapatra Sansthan, Radio Nepal, and Nepal Television. The directive also instructs that payments from government or public funds be deposited directly into the accounts of the respective media organizations.

Furthermore, it has been clarified that the rates and discount arrangements for publication and broadcasting must be officially approved by the relevant media outlets.
