No Community Should Be Left Behind from the Mainstream of Development: Minister Yadav

Itahari (Sunsari): Minister for Federal Water Supply Pradeep Yadav has stated that the government’s clear and primary objective is to ensure that no community in Nepal is left behind from the mainstream of development.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the “Jhumka Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project” held today, Minister Yadav emphasized that the government is committed to linking the water supply sector with social justice and inclusive development, aiming to provide equal services to all communities.

He said, “The government’s clear objective is that no community should be left behind from the mainstream of development. Our main goal is to ensure access to safe drinking water and sanitation for every citizen as a fundamental right.”

Minister Yadav further stated that the government’s continuous efforts are focused on improving the quality of life by linking the water sector with social justice and inclusive development. He expressed belief that the Jhumka Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project would materialize the potential for development and fulfill the aspirations of citizens.

He added that the current government, led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, has a long-term vision of delivering services equally to all communities and leaving no one behind, and that inclusive development would be institutionalized as part of this vision.

Minister Yadav said that the Ministry of Water Supply is a service-oriented social ministry responsible for fulfilling people’s basic needs, and since taking charge, he has been working actively under a plan to ensure every citizen has access to clean and safe drinking water.

He stated, “According to our active efforts and clear vision, the financial progress of the Department of Water Supply has achieved 90 percent, which is clear evidence of sustainable improvement in our performance capacity.”

According to Mahesi Mahato, Chief of the Regional Water Supply and Sewerage Management Project Office in Itahari, Sunsari, the inaugurated water project will directly benefit approximately 22,787 residents and 4,031 households in Wards No. 1, 2, 3, and 5 of Ramdhuni Municipality's Jhumka area.

He mentioned that this water project is expected to bring qualitative improvements in citizens’ health and living standards through the assurance of clean drinking water and sanitation.

The event was attended by former federal parliament member Navadita Chaudhary, Mayor Shankar Lal Chaudhary, Chairperson of the Jhumka Water Supply Main Consumer Committee KC Lal Chaudhary, Deputy Mayor Tara Thapa, Chief District Officer Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, Deputy Director General of the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage Management Rajendra Sapkota, Project Director of the Integrated Water Supply and Sewerage Management Project Surat Bam, Deputy Director Mahesh Neupane, and Chief of Water and Sewerage, Biratnagar, Surat Lal Chaudhary, among others.
