NC Whip Niskal Rai Slams PM for Ignoring Parliament

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress Whip Niskal Rai has stated that the executive head of the country ignoring a dignified institution like the Parliament is not only tragic but also demonstrates indifference toward parliamentary practice.

Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, he alleged that the executive head ignoring the Parliament is a matter of sadness and indifference, adding that even ruling party members are attempting to normalize the situation.

He said, "It is not just tragic for the country's executive head to ignore a dignified institution like the Parliament; it is also an indifference toward parliamentary practice.

Furthermore, honorable members of the ruling party are trying to make it seem normal. Today, there is a feeling that an attempt is being made to weaken parliamentarians under the guise of a two-thirds majority. The tendency to flee from questions is not a good sign for democracy."

Similarly, he commented that the Parliament has been treated like a casual tea shop. He expressed objection, stating that while the Parliament should be a 'Gurukul' (place of learning) and a university, the Prime Minister has started 'bunking' these institutions.

He said, "The Parliament is not a tea shop where one comes and goes as they please. The Parliament must be a Gurukul and a university. But a situation has arisen where the Prime Minister himself has started bunking this Gurukul and university." He also warned that his protest will continue until the Prime Minister is present in the House.
