Nepali Film ‘Chitra’ Now Streaming Worldwide on Amazon Prime Video

Kathmandu – The Nepali film Chitra, directed by Ghanshyam Lamichhane, is now available for global streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Originally released in Nepal on January 11, 2024 (27th of Poush, 2080 BS), the film has now reached a broader international audience.
Prime Video subscribers in over 200 countries can now watch the film, making Chitra the first Nepali movie to be released globally on Amazon Prime. Unlike previous Nepali films that were limited to regional Amazon platforms such as the UK or the US, Chitra marks a milestone by being accessible on the global platform.
The film’s Hindi dubbed version has been distributed internationally by “Release World”, and it includes subtitles in 43 languages — significantly increasing its reach among multilingual viewers.
Director Lamichhane expressed his excitement over the film’s global release, stating:
“Chitra’s global success could set a new benchmark for Nepali cinema. It shows the world that we can produce high-quality stories in Nepal. Our narratives are now reaching international audiences in accessible formats. This is just the beginning.”
Chitra features a talented cast including Santosh Adhikari, Menuka Pradhan, Shubhechha Khadka, Arpan Thapa, Pramod Agrahari, Anjana Baraili, Simran Khadka, Ayushi Dhakal, Binod Paudel, Kapil Sharma, Kumar Gurung, Ujwal Dhakal, Dipesh Gajurel, and Prakash Ghimire.
Produced under the banner of Santosh Adhikari Films, the film is co-produced by Asyap Entertainment Nepal and Asyap Entertainment Australia. Ashish Thapa Magar is the producer, Santosh Adhikari is the executive producer, and Raj Shrestha serves as associate producer.
Written by Ajay Adhikari with a screenplay by Manish Gautam, Chitra portrays the emotional journey of a retired father and his daughter, exploring family dynamics and generational connection. Cinematography is by Mahesh Paudel, with joint editing by Banish Shah and Sandesh Shah.
