Nepali Congress Leadership Change: Deuba Hands Over Acting Presidency to Purna Bahadur Khadka
Kathmandu,October 14 : Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, has appointed Vice-President Purna Bahadur Khadka as the party's Acting President due to his health condition.
The decision was announced today during a meeting of the Nepali Congress Central Committee.
Furthermore, President Deuba stated that he would formally transfer the party's full leadership following the party's upcoming 15th General Convention.
Deuba's move comes amidst growing internal pressure for a leadership change, particularly from the younger generation of leaders, and follows his recent injury and subsequent hospitalization.
The appointment of Khadka as the Acting President is seen as a significant interim step in addressing both the President's health concerns and the demands for a shift in the party's active command.
Khadka will now be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration and organizational work of the Nepali Congress.
