Nepali Congress Executive Committee meeting Continues
Kathmandu. The meeting of the Central Work Performance Committee of the Nepali Congress, where the dispute over the General Convention is heating up again, is also sitting this Friday. According to the party's Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel, the meeting is going to be held at 1 PM at the party central office in Sanepa.
The meeting, which is taking place amidst growing confusion regarding the General Convention schedule, active membership, and the upcoming convention process, is being viewed as important.
After the meeting of the Work Performance Committee, General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma said that a situation has arisen where the work on active membership must be completed within the next 16 days.
General Secretary Sharma has put forward a proposal to finish the work of active membership, complete the ward and House of Representatives regional conventions, and go directly to the Central General Convention. He says that the General Convention should not be limited only to selecting leadership but should give a positive message to the party and the country.
Mentioning the current security and political situation, he claimed that elections are not possible until prisoners who escaped from jail and looted weapons are returned. He suggested that the government should create an environment for that and that it would be more appropriate to hold the election in Baishakh rather than Phagun.
On the other hand, party spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said that it is not appropriate to exaggerate internal party matters in public. He has been saying that disagreements within the party should be resolved through discussions in the meeting.
The meeting of the Central Work Performance Committee of the Nepali Congress is being held under the chairmanship of Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka. In the meeting that started on Wednesday, leaders are continuing to share their views.
