Nepal-India Border Security to be Strengthened, Security Officials Committed

Rautahat. A high-level meeting of border security officials from both countries has concluded with the aim of further strengthening security arrangements in the India-Nepal international border area and effectively controlling cross-border criminal activities.

This important meeting of the 'Indo-Nepal Border District Coordination Committee' was held at the Samaharnalaya's Discussion Hall in Sitamarhi, Bihar.

The meeting focused primarily on detailed discussions regarding strengthening law and order in the India-Nepal border area, making border security more effective, and further reinforcing mutual coordination between the two countries.

Chief District Officer of Rautahat, Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, stated that the meeting placed special emphasis on adopting a joint strategy to control the trafficking of counterfeit currency, smuggling of illegal weapons, drug trafficking, and the cross-border smuggling of liquor, tobacco products, and other prohibited materials.

According to him, security officials from both countries agreed to push forward potential actions to control border crime, arrest most-wanted criminals, prevent the illegal movement of suspicious individuals and foreign nationals, and make joint security campaigns more effective by intensifying the exchange of mutual information.

In addition, intense discussions were held on serious issues such as human trafficking, drug smuggling, encroachment in border areas, the security of border pillars, and encroachment on no-man's land. The meeting also decided to conduct continuous joint operations against anti-social elements and criminal groups active in the border areas.

Border police posts and security agencies have been instructed to maintain full alertness to preserve peace, security, and a harmonious environment in the border areas.

Furthermore, officials from both sides agreed to take even minor incidents seriously, initiate immediate legal action, and further strengthen mutual cooperation, trust, and coordination.
