Prachanda Advocates Community-Based Socialism in Nepal

Rukum – Pushpa Kamal Dahal, popularly known as Prachanda and the coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, stated that socialism in Nepal will be based on local communities.

During a door-to-door campaign on Sunday in Maikot, Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality–1, he said that Nepal can learn lessons from the models of China and Vietnam, but Nepali socialism will be original and rooted in the country’s communities.

He described Rukum East as a fertile ground for socialism and mentioned that this region will form the basis for building “community-based socialism” in Nepal. “We studied the models of China and Vietnam, but Nepal’s socialism will be original, based on Nepali communities,” he said.

In his speech, Prachanda also noted that there is a growing perception among the younger generation, particularly Gen Z, that he should become the Prime Minister to lead the country correctly and address the demands raised through protests.

He added, “The main leaders of Gen Z have said that things would have worked out if Prachanda had been made Prime Minister. This does not mean I am seeking the position; it means we must understand the needs and wishes of the country and its people.”
