Government Forms Negotiation Team to Hold Talks with Fasting Dr. Nicholas Bhusal

Kathmandu: The government has formed a team to hold talks with Dr. Nicholas Bhusal, who has been on a hunger strike. Dr. Bhusal has been staging a fast for the past 10 days, putting forward a five-point demand that includes taking action against those responsible for the incidents that occurred on Bhadra 23 and 24, amending the Constitution to abolish the National Assembly and the provincial structure, and implementing a system for the direct election of an executive Prime Minister.

The negotiation committee has been formed under the coordination of Ajayabhadra Khanal, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister. 

The members of the committee include Govindanarayan Timilsina, Public Relations Advisor to the Prime Minister; Dr. Bhishma Kumar Bhusal, Joint Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers; and Ishworraj Poudel, Chief District Officer of Kathmandu.

Dr. Bhusal, who had been on a hunger strike at Maitighar Mandala, was admitted to Bir Hospital on Wednesday after his health condition deteriorated. 

On the same day, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal visited Bir Hospital to inquire about the health condition of the fasting Dr. Bhusal.
