Nepali Communist Party Initiates Action Against Rajkumar Sharma
The Nepali Communist Party has initiated a disciplinary process against Rajkumar Sharma, the former Chief Minister of Karnali Province. The party moved forward with the process to remove Sharma from his position as a Provincial Assembly member after he reportedly joined the Progressive Democratic Party, a group led by Janardan Sharma.
NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal have issued a formal request for a written explanation from Sharma. Although a letter was sent on Magh 22 demanding a response within 24 hours, sources indicate that Sharma has yet to submit his clarification.
The party is seeking justification as to why he should not be stripped of both his party membership and his status within the parliamentary party. Sharma was originally elected to the Provincial Assembly from Rukum West representing the then Maoist Center.
