UML Finalizes Candidates for Upcoming National Assembly Election
KATHMANDU – The CPN (UML) has finalized six of its candidates for the National Assembly elections scheduled for Falgun 21. While the party is set to contest seven seats as part of a broader agreement with other political parties, the candidate for Madhesh Province is still being decided.
This move follows a strategic alliance formed between the UML, Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal. Under this arrangement, the UML has claimed a total of seven seats across the country.
The party has selected Roshni Meche for Koshi Province and Dr. Prem Kumar Dangal for Bagmati Province. Other confirmed candidates include Samjhana Devkota from Gandaki, Ram Kumari Jhakri from Lumbini, Meena Rakhal from Karnali, and Lila Kumari Bhandari from Sudurpashchim Province.
Chairman KP Sharma Oli finalized these names following a secretariat meeting, though internal discussions continue regarding the remaining spot in Madhesh Province.
These decisions come just in time for the Election Commission's nomination deadline, with candidates expected to file their papers at their respective election offices later today.
