Election Commission's Decision on Voter Identification for National Assembly Elections
Kathmandu: The Election Commission has decided that six types of identification documents will be valid for voters participating in the National Assembly Member Election 2082.
According to the Commission, voters whose names are included in the final voter list for the election held on Magh 11 must carry one of the following identification cards.
The valid documents include the voter ID card issued by the Election Commission, the certificate received upon being elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly, or the certificate provided upon being elected as the Chairperson/Vice-Chairperson of a rural municipality or Mayor/Deputy Mayor of a municipality.
Similarly, the Commission stated that voting will also be permitted based on an identity card showing the current position issued by the Provincial Assembly Secretariat or local level, a certificate of Nepalese citizenship, or a National Identity Card.
In a press release issued by Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Election Commission, all stakeholders have been urged to cooperate in conducting a free, fair, and credible election.
