MP Asika Tamang’s Statement on Poverty and Wealth

RSP MP Asika Tamang has said that a person is never poor just because they do not have gold. She stated that if lacking gold made someone poor, then Lord Shiva would be the poorest person in the world.

Giving the example of Lord Shiva, she said, “Listen, listen, listen… Lord Shiva would be the poorest in the world because he lives in the mountains, sleeps on rocks, wears tiger skin as clothing, and has a snake as his necklace.”

She added that in a country where Pashupatinath originates, no one can truly be poor, according to her view. She argued that poverty is a matter of mindset.

She also said that a person can survive without gold, but cannot survive without salt.
