Bhaktapur – Mid Valley Secondary School College organized the Second Inter-School Science and Information Technology Exhibition 2082. Held in the college premises in Madhyapur Thimi, the exhibition featured 93 devices and materials created by students from 67 schools within the Kathmandu Valley.
The exhibition is scheduled to run for two days, on Mangsir 11 and 12, with an anticipated attendance of over 10,000 students. On the very first day, more than four thousand students visited the exhibition.
The exhibition showcased various devices and materials focusing on innovative applications of science and information technology, including Smart City, Water System, Water Pollution, and Smart Home, built by students studying in different schools.
The Chief Guest of the program, Prof. Dr. Rameshwar Adhikari, stated that such events provide students with not only theoretical knowledge but also practical knowledge and help stimulate inspiration for scientific and technological research.
He remarked, 'It is necessary to organize this kind of program not only in urban areas but also in schools and colleges in rural areas.'
'The government also needs to prioritize this kind of exhibition. The Ministry of Education has prioritized the science and technology sector, but it needs to bring special plans to provide practical knowledge to students.
Making these future generations competent in the field of science and technology is today's necessity.'
Ratna Katuwal, Head of the Education Branch of Suryavinayak Municipality, noted that young students displayed daily-use devices in a unique way.
He emphasized the necessity for other schools, including Mid Valley, to organize similar exhibitions. He also urged students from various schools to participate in and gain knowledge from this exhibition.
Similarly, Kamal Aryal, Director of Mid Valley College, stated that the exhibition was organized with the aim of fostering students' creative abilities and focusing on practical education.
He mentioned that the exhibition held by the college a year ago had a positive impact on students, and the Suryavinayak Municipality was also impressed, leading to the planning of an exhibition at the municipal level.
He added that the students participating in this exhibition produced more innovative information technology devices than he had anticipated.
Mid Valley announced that the top three teams that construct the best devices and materials, along with one team that receives the most votes, will be awarded.
The first-place team in the exhibition competition will receive 30,000, the second place 20,000, and the third place 10,000 rupees.
Mid Valley College also stated that they will continue to emphasize such activities and organize similar programs in the future to further encourage students towards research and exploration.
