Mayor Harka Sampang Calls Sudhan Gurung for Volunteer Labor in Dharan
Harka Sampang Rai, Mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, has invited Sudhan Gurung, coordinator of 'Hami Nepal,' to participate in volunteer labor by carrying stones.
Mayor Sampang made the appeal to Gurung to join the shramadan (volunteer labor) by writing a status update on social media. He wrote, "Sudan ji... where are you?? Come, let's carry stones! Jai Shramadan (Hail Volunteer Labor)!"
This status from Mayor Sampang came after Sudhan Gurung expressed his dissatisfaction with the work of the Home Minister via social media. Mayor Sampang's message is understood to be a response to Gurung's statement, calling him for volunteer work.
Mayor Sampang had recently returned to Dharan after visiting Kathmandu to launch his political party, the 'Shram Sanskirti Party' (Labor Culture Party). His party's election symbol is 'Mato' (Soil/Earth). Mayor Sampang has been a pioneer of the culture of volunteer labor in development projects in Dharan.
