Prachanda Says Mao’s Ideology Remains Relevant in Today’s World
Kathmandu — On the occasion of the 133rd birth anniversary of Chairman Mao Zedong, the great leader of the global communist movement, the Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has stated that Mao’s ideas remain equally relevant in the current global context.
In a message of goodwill issued on the occasion, Prachanda noted that due to imperialism, neoliberalism, and capitalist exploitation, social inequality has been increasing worldwide, interference in national sovereignty has intensified, and the lives of ordinary people have become increasingly crisis-ridden.
In such circumstances, he said, the ideas put forward by Mao, his path of struggle, and his scientific approach to resolving social contradictions continue to serve as guiding principles even today.
Prachanda emphasized that the path shown by Mao is not merely a matter of historical remembrance but a practical guide for safeguarding national independence, liberating oppressed classes, building a self-reliant national economy, and establishing a people-owned democratic system.
In the message, he mentioned that one phase of the ideological and practical struggle to end feudalism has already been completed, which has further strengthened the ideological clarity, organizational capacity, and commitment of revolutionary forces.
Synthesizing Marx, Lenin, Mao, and Nepal’s own revolutionary experiences, he stated that moving forward firmly toward a socialist revolution is the central task of the present time.
Prachanda also stressed that without a relentless ideological and political struggle against tendencies such as opportunism, ideological deviation, surrender, and anarchism, a socialist revolution cannot succeed. He explained that clarity in thought, unity in practice, and firmness in struggle represent the true essence of observing Mao Day.
On the occasion of Mao Day, he appealed to all revolutionary forces to rise above differences and unite in achieving the goal of a sovereign, self-reliant, egalitarian, and socialist Nepal.
